Baby Teething!!!

teething baby When your baby is teething it can affect the whole family, not just the baby. Teething can be very painful for babies as you can imagine, when we as adults get pains in our mouths everyone knows about it as it can be unbearable, so a babies first teeth protruding could be a painful experience for them.

There is no set age at when your baby will start to teeth, it usually happens between the ages of six to nine months. As all babies are different, it's not abnormal for a baby to be born with a tooth present, or for teeth not to develop until they are over one year old.

Your baby could experience a lot of pain when their first teeth are coming through or it could be completely painless for them, babies will react differently. You may notice some symptoms early on before any teeth are visible. Symptoms such as drooling, cheek rubbing, pulling or rubbing at their ears and the gums near where the tooth is appearing can start to look red or sore. That said, it is unwise to put every symptom down to teething problems, if you are unsure it's always best to consult a medical professional.

Babies have twenty milk teeth in total, which is ten at the bottom and ten at the top of the mouth. These teeth most commonly appear as the bottom middle teeth, followed by the top middle teeth, then the bottom back teeth and top back teeth. This is by no means how every child will develop their teeth but it has be known in the majority to appear this way.

To relieve some of the teething pain your baby may be experiencing you can try a few of these methods. Rub teething gel into the effected area with your finger a few times a day, even just rubbing your finger over the area can help sooth the discomfort for your baby. Another effective method is to use a chilled teething ring that you keep in the fridge (make sure that it is not frozen, just chilled).
